blurred vision: guess what peoples? I GOT CONTACTS! amazing huh? yes, i've caught up with the technology. uh, maybe not. i got hard lenses. anyways, i've had them in for about an hour and a half now and all i see is tears in my eyes. i didn't think i was gonna get them TODAY, but man, u know koreans...they work fast. and freakin' cheap too! you know how much my appointment was? $15. THAT'S RIGHT. FIFTEEN DOLLARS. this doc graduated from seoul national (equivalent = harvard) and he's charging folks $15?!?! what a nice guy huh? what was even more amazing is this doc examines not 1, not 2, but 4-5 patients at a time! the same time it takes for 1 person in the US, he's already seen 5. anyways, i can take them in and out easily so i feel good about that. i'm just worried when a piece of dust gets in my eye. my cousin said it hurts so bad that you can't hear anything! is that true? and i'll have to get used to life w/o my glasses. i counted today how many years i've worn glasses and it's been TEN years!! i feel like a granny. well, i'll have to get used to not pushing up my glasses and stuff so it's gonna be really weird. and i'll be blinking alot. >.< haha. so yeah. that's something cool, right? last night it took me a total of an HOUR to get home. soooo much traffic. so i got off at coex and ate mcD's for dinner. it's NOT as good as home. the burgers are tougher. french fries, if you can believe it, are actually too salty. i dunno. it's just not like home. anyways, going home my legs started hurting like crazy. especially my left leg. it was this dull pain all over my leg. when i tried to sleep, i couldn't b/c the pain was too much. i was awake for about an hour when i finally fell asleep, however, i woke up again around 4 cuz it was hurting so bad. =( i was rubbing and massaging it, but to no avail. so i ate 2 advils and fell asleep. i wonder what's wrong! then i went to coex to get the pics i developed. i took these pics before i left for korea. i have so many cute ones of carolyn and joel. oh i miss them so much...=*( but yeah, it was freakin' expensive to develop aps here so i knew i was going to buy a digital camera. on my way out of the mall, i passed by mcd's (like i usually do) i see this guy that kinda looked like kihwan from the back. and look closer and it is him. so i go inside and he's eating while surfing the net. (they have computers at mcd's here.) so we talk for a lil bit. my contacts are killing me at this point. but we decide to eat lunch next week. he's dead broke b/c he just got a new apt. dunno what we're gonna eat. haha. so then i get home and wait for my cousin. she said we would leave around 5:30 or 6. i get home around 5. 5:30 comes. no cousin. 6 comes. no cousin. finally around 6:20, she comes. hallelujah! i thought we were gonna take a taxi or the subway, but since techno mart closes at 8, my cousin says she's gonna drive. in da jaguar man! :D there was alot of traffic going there so we didn't get there till around 7. ugh. i needed to buy a phone AND camera by 8. >.< first we go to get my phone since that's most important. we go to the same shop as we looked last time. they remembered us. lol. not necessarily a good thing. cuz me & my cousin kept bugging them for something cheap cheap. but the guys were nice (i think one of them was flirting w/ the both of us) and helpful. i was gonna get a 011 (the most expensive, but reliable service), but the phones were just too expensive. over $250. so they said since i wasn't even gonna be here for a year, just to get a 019 phone. so i settled for a white cyon (made by LG). it's cute i guess. color. and in english. much more complicated than phones back home. cost me $130. not bad. by the time we're finished w/ my phone, it's 7:40. uh oh. but oh as luck would have it, the guy helping us has a cousin that works downstairs in the ELECTRONICS dept. :) so we go to his cousin's place. his cousin said not to worry about the time. so we didn't. we didn't leave till 8:45. lol. but this is what i got: *canon a70 powershot *tripod (w/ carrying case...so cute!) *8 top-of-the-line rechargeable batteries *battery charger *camera case *128 mb disk (that has a 10 year warranty) *and of course the stuff that comes w/the camera (cd-roms, usb, tv cable, extra batteries (not rechargeable), carrying strap, 16 mb disk) for $426. the camera itself was $272, but it was the 128 mb disk that made it expensive. i didn't know that there were different levels of these memory cards. yeah, i could have bought a 128 mb card for like $30, but the flash time is slow and those aren't guaranteed to work. he didn't mind selling me that cheap one he said, but for myself, i couldn't bear it if it didn't work well. so yeah, i spent a ton yesterday. argh. my cousin bought a cd player there too so we got a pretty good deal imo. i got home and was very tired. and my contacts were killing me. it took me about 10 minutes to take them out. i took them out with ease at the doc's office, but when i got home, i could hear my right contact trying to come out, but it wouldn't. my eye was getting red. i was kinda getting worried. but all of a sudden, it just came out just fine. so did the left. i'm so weird. i was so happy last night, i didn't know what to play with first. my camera or my phone. i settled for my phone since i would need to use it more often. i sent some "moon jjah messages" (text messages) to a couple of people. it was fun. took a couple of pics of my phone with my new camera. looked over the manuals. fell asleep. ----------------------- on my way to my cousin's now. if u email me and i don't email u for a few days, it's b/c aol doesn't work at my cousin's for some reason. will take lots of pics for "choo suk". sorry for the freakin' long post. have a great day! good news...good news!: i feel like this weight has been lifted off my shoulders. seriously. God answered my prayers! my family (this includes my relatives) have been worrying frantically about my Visa status. however, our worries are over. today as i was signing my contract (whoo hoo~!), my employer informs me that i can get an e-2 visa (which is a teaching visa)! i'm SOOOO thankful. now i gotta go to japan (osaka) by myself. =\ that should be an adventure in itself. but yeah, i'm so thankful. :D i've been praying for this ever since i got here and couldn't sleep a couple of times from worrying so much. no more ulcers for me! (ok, it wasn't THAT bad, but...it was difficult.) today i went shopping for myself. hehe. here's what i bought: *english-korean, korean-english dictionary: so i can learn a lil more korean. hehe. *"basketball's most wanted" by floyd conner: another BOOK. i'm actually reading peoples! *"rookie": a korean nba magazine: awesome! (takes forever to read tho...) "rookie" actually looks alot like SLAM, but also has baseball and soccer mixed in, but mostly bball. if you look on the right, you'll see scottie pippen on the cover. ugh. but i bought it cuz it had this long article on DIRK vs. PEJA. cool. even has good (cute) pics of dirk. grace, you can keep this magazine when i get back. what's even COOLER is that it seems like there's alot of dallas mavs fans in korea. how do i know? in the magazine, an article stated it will be hard for nba fans to watch alot of games in korea, but one of the stations here (MBC) will be showing some of the teams including the lakers, t-wolves, nets, and MAVS!! whoo hoo! only thing is...i gotta go somewhere that has MBC/ESPN. my cousin, charles oppa, has cable so...haha. i'll be over there alot. *hopefully* there was another magazine called "the shot" which also looked alot like SLAM. dunno if both mags are copying?!?! a.i. was on the cover, but didn't have enough mavs in there for me to get it. =( tomorrow i am REALLY, this time REALLY gonna get my cell phone AND digital camera. i'm looking forward to it sooo much~! i've been looking for a digital camera for over a year now. i'm such a wimp. =P ok will post pics asap! have a great day. and remember...praying works!
