i feel gross...: ugh...blood! last night i ate dinner with my uncle. we ate meat. yum. however, i ended up eating a piece that was bloody bloody (i sound british, huh?). ugh. i couldn't put the piece of meat back on the grill so i just ate it. after that, i felt gross. maybe it's just me, but i felt sick. don't worry, it was cooked half-way so i guess it was "rare", but i always eat my meat well done so it totally grossed me out. =P i've started to become more acquainted with the other teachers at YBM (my school). especially the "foreign" teachers (meaning: born and came from another country). it's amazing how much korean they DO know. yesterday i was at the school observing for 3 hours. i learned alot of new ways to teach so i'm excited to go back tomorrow. i also realized how lucky i am with my classes. out of the 60-something number of kids i have, there are maybe 3 that give me a lil trouble. that's not even alot. but observing the other teachers' classes yesterday, they have it much harder than me. some kids would just not shut up. others didn't listen. 1 girl was so freakin' loud. she has "voice-emodulation syndrome" (will ferrell from 'snl'). haha. this upcoming week will be a great one. go to school tomorrow. no school on tuesday. gonna go buy my cell AND digital camera. wedneday, i'm meeting up w/ meeryoung unnie and going to my other cousin's house and staying there until friday (or maybe saturday). yay! it's korean thanksgiving on thursday so nobody works from wednesday-friday. during "choo suk" (thanksgiving), people get together with relatives and visit family members' graves; most of those graves are located in the country-side. wednesday and saturday will be "hell" for people travelling. in the area where i'm at, there's usually a butt-load of traffic, but my relatives tell me that it will be like a ghost town. so i'm looking foward to this week. when i get my digital camera, i'm gonna be taking tonz of pics, ok? i've decided to get the canon a70 powershot. good reviews everywhere and reasonably priced. hopefully i can "bargain" my way down to a good price. :) *breaking news*: did you know that when u smell something, only ONE of your nostrils actually takes in the smell? the other nostril "rests". weird. the alternate every 3-4 hrs. okie, wish me luck in getting my camera and phone! i'm such a good niece, aren't i?: dang i should get some award... man last night i helped my aunt pack for korea. no biggie. but man, since "choo suk", korea's thanksgiving is coming up (next thurs), presents have started to pour in. so far the presents have been kimchi, fish (gool bee), and meat. i have never seen so many different kinds of kimchi in my entire life. the fish was absolutely disgusting. it was so nasty to touch. and i had to cut off the fins and it grossed me out. but oh my goodness, the meat!! it took about 2 hours to cut off the fat and put them in plastic bags. THAT'S how much meat was given. my aunt still has meat from LAST "choo suk". yesterday i received a box of oranges (huge box) from my school as a "choo suk" present. it was awfully nice, but i had to go to coex mall to get my sister some stationary and couldn't lug that box around. so i took it to my other cousin's (ji yun unnie) house and gave it to them. :) me's a good girl, right? yesterday i officially severed ties with English Channel. i decided not to teach there (which was mentioned a while back) and not become an editor there. they're trying to pay me crap so i decided that i didn't want to work for chicken feed. =P man, some bad news: jane called last night and said that her parents are gonna use her phone while in korea so now i gotta go get me one. back to the hunt. =\ and i've decided to buy a digital camera. which i wanna buy before choo suk so i can take pics of what it's like but i dunno if i'll be able to buy it by then. oh but i got PAID last night!! they had to pay me in cash yesterday since they couldn't get the money transferred into my account in time so i took this fat envelope to the KB atm and deposited the money. whoo hoo! it was fun doing that. in korea, they have this account book that you take to the atm which prints out your transactions. cool, huh? once i get my camera, i'll show you all this. my aunt's on her way to the states right now. she might come to Church on Sunday so some of you may see my momma's sister. hehe. i'll be over at ji yun unnie's house from the 9th-11th. :) okie i woke up early so i could use the computer before my cousin got back from the airport so i'm kinda tired. gonna go back to sleep. see ya! yay! then nay...: great, then frustrating. great, then frustrating. here was my schedule for the day: 10am: meet up with my cousin ji yun 11am-1:30pm: open bank account at KB (largest bank in korea), look around hyundai dept store, eat lunch 2:00pm: go to EC to return books and talk to the president about working there part-time as an editor this is what happened: 10am: met up with ji yun unnie 12pm: went to hyundai dept store, opened up a bank account, went to eat lunch lunch was DELICIOUS! bi bim bap. mixed veggies w/rice. oh so good. this place was on tv the other day so i wanted to go there. it was getting to be around 1:45 so i called EC to let them know i was gonna be a lil late. i call them and amie (the contact person) tells me that the president called in sick and couldn't meet today. if i didn't call, i would have wasted so much time going there, walking up 10 flights of stairs (b/c the elevator is broken there), and would have gone for nothing. thanks for nothing EC!! grrrr. so me & my cousin went to buy some groceries for my aunt. well, we were walking around when we noticed that the dept store had added a new wing. so me & my cousin went to look there and they had opened a huge bakery, cafe, and pizza place. we passed by the pizza place when we saw the pizzas and...they looked sooo good~!!! the pizzas were the thinest pizzas i've ever seen. my cousin ji yun said, "doesn't that look good?" i nodded. the pizza guy was saying, "just try it. we just opened. the pizzas are delicious." my cousin asked me if i was full from the bi bim bap. i started laughing. i asked HER if SHE was full from the bi bim bap. she said she could eat more. i nodded. the pizza guy said, "i don't think 1 pizza is enough for the both of you...", but my cousin said, "we just ate bi bim bap." i cracked up. we sat down. ATE A PIZZA! it was so good. we both felt like pigs, but it was worth it. they even gave us a free coke since they just opened. (lil free things like that thrill me!) so to help us digest, we walked around the dept store. and if bi bim bap and pizza wasn't enough, we ate ICE CREAM (terre de glace?) after that. this ice cream isn't as fattening like baskin robbins so my cousin wanted to eat that. oh we felt like pigs, but hey, we both didn't eat dinner so that's okay, right? :D so i was all happy that i opened my first bank account. kook min bank. i called my school, YBM, to let them know my bank account number (so they can PAY ME) and she tells me, "this time, we'll put money in KB, but by october, you need to open an OORI bank account." #$%#^!! why is she telling me NOW? now i gotta open another one. my cousin said most people have 3-4 accounts so it's okay, but still. grrr. well, all in all, it was a great day hanging out with my cousin. i didn't want to leave her house. but alas, i'm back home again. but next week for korea's thanksgiving (choo suk), i'll be over there again so i'm looking forward to that. :)
she's so freakin' cute i want to kiss her!!! i miss carolyn...=( ok have a great day peoples! (^.^)v Squirted 7:19 AM by E-J YiTuesday, September 02, 2003
at home with the relatives: what a "exciting" day... you know back in elementary school when u used to read those books about how some girl spent an afternoon begrudingly going to a grandmother's (or in my case, aunt's) house, but the girl ends up learning and most of all, actually enjoying the afternoon spent with the relative? ok, that's not what happened today. ok, sort OF. this morning i wake up to help my aunt arrange flowers. my aunt was the recent recipent of an award for volunteering to help japanese people. (supposedly a cash award, too!) anyways, flowers started to pour in from well-wishers and alas, most of the flowers have hit the bucket. but there are some (actually alot) that are still striving to live for another 48 hours so she had me cut the flowers and she arranged them. and it actually turned out very pretty! i took a couple of pics with my regular camera so i could be proud of MY work. haha. jk. was gonna take a pic w/ my cousin's digital camera, but my aunt was home all day so i couldn't. may i remind u that i've been using her camera w/o her knowledge. *gulp* afterwards, i washed the dishes after she prepared spaghetti sauce (oh yeah~!) and curry ("kah-reh" as koreans say it) for when she goes to dallas. (oh julie's gonna have some fun...haha!) i'm not a fan of curry so the smell was overwhelming the spaghetti sauce unfortunately. anyways, after that i spent the rest of the afternoon helping her put a new setting for the dining room table and changing out the blankets since the weather here has gotten alot cooler. (thank goodness.) i guess it was an okay day after all, but i was so nervous NOT to piss her off that i didn't eat lunch. oh well. ate lots of spaghetti for dinner. :) being in korea, i realized how much i DON'T eat. i hardly ever ate onions back home, but when i went to lunch the other day w/ my aunt & uncle, i forced myself to eat onions (from a salad) like i've never done before. if you saw how i ate them, you'd think that i actually like them. i'm not sure how i'm going to be with curry while my aunt is gone, but fo sho, imma be downin' that spaghetti like crajee. my cousin can eat all the curry she wants. yuck. and watching food shows, they show all this food made from weird veggies and meats that i couldn't eat like pig's feet ("jjok bahl"). blech. so far it hasn't been THAT bad eating foods i normally don't eat and hopefully, i won't be forced to eat something weird like pig's intestines ("soon deh"). *barf* remember a few entries back i mentioned about the autistic boy that lived in the neighborhood? that sometimes i hear these ear-piercing screams of terror? my aunt tells me that when i'm at home alone to make sure i lock the back door. "why?" i asked. "cuz sometimes he could wander in our house not knowing where he lives. he's about your age and you know, males his age can't control themselves about sex...", my aunt says. !#$%#%^#$&!!!!!! this is EXACTLY why i SHOULDN'T be here. she said that he only came to their house accidently ONCE, but that's ONE TOO MANY for me!! *shudder* let's change the subject to something much more pleasant... look at these cute pics!!
the wons looking happy. except for caleb. he grew more hair. :)
cute pic huh? looks like a baby model. hehe. some korean pop music observations: *new up-and-coming star: lee jung. when i first heard his song, i liked it immediately. "dah shin". and he sang live so he was even more impressive. he sounds like park jin young to me. but anyways, it's been a month or so since he debuted and finally he's starting to get more popular. but man, i called it. i SO called it. haha. *eun ji won (jekki) came out with a new album. i think his whole hard-core rap/hip-hop thing wasn't working so he toned it down alot. his new single ain't that great and he's imitating some rapper (can't seem to pinpoint who) so it sounds pretty stupid to me. but he sang some other song during his comeback which i thought was really good. anyways, he seems to be getting popular these days b/c of "kang ho dong's chun seng yun boon" b/c he's so sarcastic. *2 songs that are everywhere: "nee gah cham joh wah" (i really like you) by jewelry and "chin goo" by nrg. i like nrg's song alot better. gosh dang it. i asked my cousin to copy 2 CD's of EC's lesson #3 and she said okay. she was gonna get her friend to do it. so i went out and bought 10 CD'Rs for her friend as a thank-you present. cost me about $6. then NOW she calls me and says that she can't do it. WTFreak?! what am i gonna do with 10 CD-R's?! you can't return stuff like that here. @#$%$^. i'm so glad that my cousin tries her best for me. (*sarcasm*) ok, forget her. i'm not going to copy anymore books for her. hmph! ok, i will, but i'm not going to be nice about it. ok, i'm ending this post on a bad note. =P Squirted 7:35 AM by E-J YiMonday, September 01, 2003
hello everybody!: how is everybody doing? yes, i'm in a much better mood these days. :) things have been going pretty well. lots of walking around. ugh. but i guess that helps me lose weight, right? yesterday i bought hyori's cd & nrg's 5th cd. funny thing: haven't gotten a chance to listen to either one. dang, hyori's freakin' hot~. atleast in my opinion.
i have become a fan of NRG. didn't really like them before, but they work very hard so i like that. ok, i sound like a lil kid now. b/c i bought this cd, the music store owner let me have 3 posters: 1 poster of lee soo young (basically for a cover for...) and 2 kelly clarkson posters! whoo hoo! i got 2 just in case one got messed up. i'm getting a hyori poster later on for freeee~ (after 1 month of displaying it he said he would give it to me. anybody want it?) i was SOOOO tempted to buy this cd:
HECK NO b/c of him. the songs in this 5-CD set are some of the best ones. but i think i already have all these mp3s...hmmm~ OMG. NOOOOO~! i REALLY, REALLY want this!!! oh wait, nm. doesn't work in US dvds. poo. so tempted to buy this puzzle...
thought i saw her yesterday at artbox (stationary store), but no one seemed to care...
her real name is park han byul, but that's her character's name in "yoo joh sook nyuh". supposedly the next "jun ji hyun" or something. i tried to take some pics of myself, but i just look bad taking pics up close. anyways, i've added a couple of pointless pics in my *new* photo album (located on the left linx entitled "fotos_2". original, i know.). if i didn't explain about the "calendar" photo very well, here's my explanation: i have been looking for planners ever since i got here. but they're too expensive or they don't have what i want. i finally found one that was perfect: cheap (about $8), durable (that "prada"-like material), and easy to write in. except for 1 thing: had a 2002 calendar. ugh. so i did something bad. i got another 2003 planner made by the same company and in a corner, i switched out the calendars. i got to the cash register and the cashier says, 'all sales final' so i was thinking, hurry up and check me out so i can get outta here! i was scared that somebody might say something. (yes, i know...for a measly sheet of paper, but this planner used to be about $30!) anyways, she takes "my" planner and asks another girl to get one from the back. EEEE!! she said she had to do that b/c it was a display. omg, what about my calendar! so i asked her, "in that planner, there was a 2003 calendar, is it alright if i switch it out?" the cashier says, 'sure!', but the other girl looks at me funny. i didn't make eye contact when i switched them out. i hurriedly walked out of the store and vowed never to go there again. but, GOOOO ME! haha. ok, enough boring chit chat. see u.
