i cried myself to sleep last night: i dunno what really got into me... well, the other day when talking to meeryoung unnie about our Church, it got me really kinda sad that i wasn't doing anything with my Church anymore. but last night, i was listening to Mercy Me's "i can only imagine" and it reminded me so much of Church that tears started dripping from my eyes. it wasn't like the floodgates flew open or anything, but it's just so weird from going to this busybody at Church to nothing here. back home, i sometimes wished that i wasn't so busy at Church, but now that i'm not doing anything, i get so bored. i guess since last night was saturday night or something. i'm okay now, but i guess i felt "Church-sick". funny i haven't been really home sick yet. the good thing was it helped me fall asleep faster. hehe. i watched the britney/christina/madonna/missy perf just now. i think britney did slip madonna the tongue. gross. justin looked shocked. if i was him, i'd be thinking, "man, she's really going downhill." but 50 seemed to like it alot. and vivica liked 50 alot. dang man. she breaks up with her rapper husband to get the "up-and-coming" rapper. what a hoe. i finally weighed myself last night. i lost about 5 lbs. i didn't really think it made a difference, but it has. my pants are looser. my mom is so happy. haha. ok, about what happened the other day. i was all ready to go to EC and start teaching company employees. i had gone through all this hard and excruciating training. i went to YBM (my part-time job) on friday with a heart of "man, i'm going to be leaving these kids" when i realized what a mistake i was making. friday was Test Day at YBM so most of my classes had to take a test. you don't know how cute the kids are when they are taking tests! when i came home i was in so much agony in what to do that i wrote down the "pros" and "cons" of each place. this is what it came down to: *same pay *20 MORE hours per month at EC *student management: at EC, i had to call and contact (email) students OUTSIDE class. none of that at YBM. *strict teaching guidelines to follow at EC. *kids vs. adults *i either come back next october (EC) or next july (YBM). so i made my decision that i'm going to stay at YBM. i couldn't sleep friday night thinking about all this. and yesterday i talked to the YBM director and she agreed to contractual terms with me. i sign on the dotted line next week or so. so that's that. if you watch korean videos, game shows you SHOULD watch: "toh yoh deh jak jun" (saturday challenge(?)) and "new nonstop III" (since it's about to end). in "toh yoh deh jak jun", "rose war 3" is absolutely hilarious. something i look forward to watching every saturday. =) and if you can rent, "yah shin mahn mahn". so freakin' hilarious. today i plan to run some errands: *drop off my camera film *copy my EC books (for my cousin & meeryoung unnie to study...hey, i didn't go there for NOTHING!) *buy a red pen (to grade papers! i love doing that!) *buy NRG's 5th cd. i'm thinking of buying hyori's cd, but not sure. depends on expensive it is. but man, she's so pretty and good at singing. *look for puzzle at music store. they have puzzles of celebs (like finkl, shinhwa) that i might buy if it's not too expensive... ok, that's a big update, right? :) for some reason the new photo album i made isn't working. will post up pics later. bye ya'll...(^.^)v Squirted 9:44 PM by E-J YiFriday, August 29, 2003

yummy yummy in my tummy: omg today was a LONGGGG day... first i get to English Channel (which will now be referred to "E.C.") at 10am and left there at 5pm. do you know what i did all day? listen, er, READ carefully... A. I am pour years old. B. I am four year old. C. I am four years old. i had to listen to questions like that, write down the correct answer, ALL FREAKIN' DAY LONG. took me until 4pm. omg, i was seriously about to throw-up from all it. atleast it's over now, but dang, not to brag, but i did over 600 questions. out of 600, ~480 were questions on stress & pronounciation. guess how many i missed? out of 480, i missed 7. *bowing* i have to brag sometimes, right? ;) jk. sometimes i amaze myself. ok, forrealz...i'll stop. haha. after work, i met up with mee ryoung unnie again~! i was SOOO HAPPY to see her!!! she's soooooooooo nice and really cool. didn't know until today that she was cousins with daniel, david, duk hwa, jun hwa, shawn, and ben. just thought they were close for some reason. haha. neways, we had a wonderfully yummy dinner at "ee kki" which is a tonkatsu (fried pork cutlet) restaurant that also served japanese appetizers. i absolutely loved it! :) we both ate until we were stuffed and then went to a cafe to have some after dinner drinks. non-alcoholic, of course. we're gonna meet again on 9/10. during the days of 9/10-9/12 is thanksgiving in korea so nobody works. she's gonna help me buy some makeup and stuff so i'm really excited! eeeeee~! well, my aunt tells me this morning that she can tell i've lost more weight. and so did mee ryoung unnie today. i'll weigh myself tomorrow, but yesterday i could tell i lost a lil b/c the pants that are a lil tight on me wasn't so tight anymore. i guess that's a good thing i'm losing weight, but i feel like i'm starving sometimes. okie, time for me to sign off. g'morning america! did you miss me?: sorry for the lack of updates. i've been busy like a bee... well, well, well...i got another job offer! and until today it seemed like i was going to take it for sure, but then all of a sudden, the part-time hagwon that i'm working at is trying to keep me like crazy. AHHH~! such a big headache. anyways, the new place that i am PROBABLY going to work is called English Channel. clever name, huh? i really like their methods of teaching and their teaching philosophy (which sounds really corny), but this hagwon is very sophisticated and professional. i was hoping that the part-time hagwon wouldn't make it hard for me to leave, but they have. please pray for me that i'll make the right choice. please... u know what's weird? ok, maybe not weird, but it's really amazing. in korea right now, there's this olympics-style tournament for university-aged students. from all around the world. the really nice thing is that korean people have becoming cheering sections for other countries. a group of like 50 koreans will root for brazil. a group of 50 will root for canada, etc. isn't that nice? i was so surprised. what was really neat was that north korea came and the 2 koreas walked into the stadium together which was really touching. like everybody in the stands were crying and stuff b/c south koreans are always so open and nice to north koreans. one of the highlights of the games is the north korean women cheer team. they are always in complete unison using wooden paddles, fans, rose-shaped megaphones, pom poms. and they do this wearing a complete marching band-style uniform and sweat like crazy, but never show signs of dehydration or fatigue. very interesting to watch. anyways, the other day a bunch of south korean protestors showed up at the games and started protesting north korea's nuclear weapons program and this n.korean reporter came out and started fighting with all the protestors by himself. so scary. so like the n.korean team was thinking of going back, but decided not to after some apologies were made. today REALLY sucked weather-wise. it all of a sudden started raining and i had a really crappy umbrella with me. i made it to my training session (i'm training all day with English Channel right now), but was slipping and sliding with my shoes. ugh. i was going to take the bus to my part-time job, but no bus would come and i was getting drenched (b/c the umbrella couldn't take the amount of rain that was falling) so i decided to take a taxi. right when i got in, i looked in my wallet and saw i had about $5. it's about $6.50~$7 to get to my workplace. so i told the taxi driver that i didn't think i had enough and to let me off sooner, but he said don't worry about it, you won't go over $5 and if it does, you don't have to pay more than $5. =D i was floored by his kindness. most taxi drivers wouldn't do that. luckily the meter DIDN'T go over $5 (he was an awesome driver even tho he's older than most drivers) and i could give him the right amount. after work, it was raining like crazy and my umbrella was seriously leaking through. i was getting wet UNDER my umbrella~! i was cold, my glasses were soaked and especially my nine west slide-on shoes. ugh. i made it home okay, but dang, i really hate the rain. the other day i finally received my first payment for the 4 hours i taught at sam shin creation (the fabric company) so yesterday i bought 2 containers of cookies from paris baguette (a nice bakery). i took 1 container (and some popsicles since my uncle LOVES popsicles) to my cousin ji yun's house and ate dinner there since i can't get real food here. had a great time with my sook moh (aunt) and went "home" to my eemo (mom's sister)'s house. i brought them cookies too so they were atleast happy about that. whew. :) najera got suspended for a game. dirk sprained his ankle. van exel is sad about leaving. what's happening to my mavs? =( freakin' aol doesn't work right now. can't check my email. sorry if i can't write u back. hope everybody's doing well...(^.^)v Squirted 7:42 AM by E-J YiSunday, August 24, 2003
korean entertainment: celebrities dominate the entertainment world here... here are some dramas i highly recommend:
"1% eh uh dduhn guht": i love this drama b/c these 2 characters don't match background wise (she's middle class, he's upper class), but they don't care. the actors have great chemistry and it's a good, clean drama.
"ap jib yuja": even tho it's a bunch of older actors in this drama, it's probably the best drama i've seen in a long time. TRULY. so hilarious and touching. 3 married couples and atleast 1 person has an affair. sounds sad, but it's a really funny drama. unfortunately it ended in 12 episodes. =*( the best ones end so quickly. anyways, WATCH THIS!
"bodyguard": i already mentioned this drama and it's still going on strong. great acting and lol funny. :)
"chut sarang": i wouldn't watch this drama if it wasn't for this guy. the drama is extremely slow at first, but it picks up a lil later. but i only watch this b/c of this guy cuz he's soooo good at acting. even tho he's not every handsome.
"yoo joh sook nyuh": people are watching this drama b/c of kim hee sun only. she hasn't done a drama in a while so now that she came out everybody's watching this thing. the drama is borderline sucky, but she's so pretty in there and has a cute character that u just end up watching it anyway. at the very least, you can see how she folded her eyelids again. (instead of surgery, they have this procedure where they pinch ur eyelids to make the fold. ouch!) but the thing that has really kept me from being absolutely bored is the radio. instead of having real DJs, they have celebs be the DJs instead. this might be a good idea in america, don't u think? what if NICK CARTER had his own radio show? omg, i'd listen everyday. haha. anyways, here's 2 radio shows that i listen to every night:
"lee min woo's jah yoo sun uhn": he always says "thank you" when signing off. it's so cute! anyways, he's much better than i thought he would be. amazing that a regular singer can pull a radio show off by himself.
"park joon young and kim dahl leh's radio show": these 2 are comedians and do all these sound effects when they tell stories and stuff. really cute. ok, i dunno what was the point of all that. i guess i wanted to put up some pics. =P dang, after last night's HUGE meal, i woke up this morning starving. can u believe that? so i wanted to eat cereal, but guess what!! NO MILK~! isn't that a surprise~! so i just ate cereal plain. like a snack. then for lunch since i "ate SO MUCH at breakfast", i ate rice, 1 fish cake, 3 slices of kimchi, and about 10 pieces of kim (seaweed). "dang i hope i don't gain too much weight", i thought. it's raining like crazy right now so i can't go out to get anything to eat. T.T i have a headache right now. charles oppa (my cousin) and his wife, hee soo unnie, said maybe we'll eat dinner tonight, but i have no idea. what am i gonna eat for dinner if we don't meet up? THERE'S NOTHING TO EAT!! AHHHHHHHHHHH~! i guess i'll drink some water... Squirted 1:10 AM by E-J Yi
